Water.umn.edu promotes stories related to water or water use at the University of Minnesota. We encourage the submission of stories related to water or water use at the U, research-based or otherwise related to the sciences, policy, economics, social science or the humanities. We welcome ideas for original stories as well as story submissions from across the University related to water. We will consider reprints or excerpt from scholarly publications.
Stories that fit our general content criteria will be considered.
General content: Stories that relate to the broad theme of water from across the University of Minnesota whether research based, or otherwise related to the sciences, policy, economics, social science or the humanities.
Feature articles: We publish feature articles written by leading researchers and U of M faculty and staff that address current topics and trends in water research. Letters about material published in the last three months and reprints or excerpts from scholarly publications will also be considered.
Profiles: Profile articles on Faculty engaged in water research at the University of Minnesota across disciplines. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to pitch possible ideas for faculty profiles.
Other content considerations include: Post length ranges from 200-800 words, though should be consistent with the type of content submitted.
How to submit
Stories and ideas for original stories can be submitted using our online form. Please provide a brief description of the story, the author’s name and identifying department or unit.
If available, include visuals with the story and cite the photographer or original source. Please send images to email@example.com. We can also help find or produce appropriate images for the story.
Publication is subject to approval based on quality, content and other editorial considerations. For these reasons, submissions are not guaranteed publication. We will not consider stories that include slanderous or offensive language.
Once your initial submission has been approved, our editorial staff will contact you with information about additional steps required for publication including manuscript revisions and graphics. We attempt to respond to submissions within two to four weeks. If you have not heard within that time, send a follow-up email to our editors at firstname.lastname@example.org.
